In the Know: New car washes planned in Naples area
Updated: Dec 23, 2020
The race is on to finish the Brickyard Car Wash this fall in the second phase of Cameron Commons, the retail center on the north side of Immokalee Road just east of Collier Boulevard.
“The car wash is scheduled to be completed in September with a grand opening in October,” said Paul Emidy Jr., project manager for Naples-based EECON Construction Services, the contractor for the local construction project.
The name of the new car wash is a nod to the Brickyard nickname for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the annual Indy 500 race for more than a century. The car wash will even sport checkered flags when finished.
Ground was broken earlier this year on the 1-acre lot between Taco Bell and the RaceTrac store and gas station to build the fully automatic express car wash. Although the new business will front Immokalee Road, its address is 9020 Sage Ave., the parallel road that bisects the second phase of Cameron Commons.
Only one other acre on the other side of Sage remains available for development there. That vacant commercial lot between the Goodwill store and The Warehouse restaurant previously was proposed for a three-story, air-conditioned self-storage business, but the probability of this concept being developed could not be determined.
A 2,089-square-foot car wash tunnel will take up the majority of the 3,854-square-foot building under construction. The white stucco structure will have a brown brick veneer base around all four sides as well as brick pilasters and aluminum canopies as accents in the front. Free vacuum service will be available in spaces just east of the building.
EECON has another car wash project starting this week at Luv-A-Wash on Golden Gate Parkway in Golden Gate, Emidy said.
“We will be demolishing the existing building and building another express wash similar to the one built on Pine Ridge in 2017,” he said.
The Love family owns the rebuilt Luv-A-Wash location in North Naples that reopened in January 2018 as well as the longtime location in Golden Gate scheduled for an extreme makeover. In addition to the car wash they built in 2007 at 4712 Golden Gate Parkway, the family owns the BP gas station and convenience store next door.
“The existing car wash will close on Monday, April 29, for us to remove equipment, and the site will be turned over to the EECON Construction Services on Wednesday, May 1, for them to start demolition. We are intending to be open before the end of the year,” said Naples resident Gordon Love, director of operations for C&E Love Inc., the family business that owns the property and car wash business.
“This location will change drastically, going from the self-service bays to a 100-foot express tunnel with free vacuums,” Love said. “The new wash will be able to wash far more cars and produce a cleaner car than we can currently offer.”
The rebuilt car wash in Golden Gate will be similar to the Luv-A-Wash on the corner of Jaeger and Pine Ridge roads.
“The building will look almost identical and we will offer all the same services at both locations,” Love said. “We will be offering the unlimited wash plans in Golden Gate and you will be able to use your membership at either location at no additional charge. This location will be a little smaller, but we have worked hard with our vendors to ensure that we have the right wash equipment to ensure we are delivering the quality our customers have come to expect at our Pine Ridge location.”
